It's awesome 2b an artist!

Remember, be original and don't take credit for something that isn't yours. Earlier b4 I posted my own art (Counting Sheep, A Serenade to the Savannah and Garden of Morality) I took pics from the internet and passed them off as mine :( I got a bunch of angry emails from the REAL artists whose art I plagiarized and apologized to all of them. Yeah, I know what I did was completely dishonest and wrong. I felt guilty and deleted all their art off my profile, and apologized to everyone whose work I'd stolen. I did it because I was so frustrated that I couldn't find a way to submit my own art.

THANK GOODNESS I FOUND A PAINTING PROGRAM THAT WORKS AND SUBMITTED STUFF THAT'S ACTUALLY MINE

So, follow my advice and don't plagiarize. Submit your own work and don't steal someone else's!!

I just had to get this off my chest.

The art that I falsely claimed as my own is not on my Newgrounds profile anymore and on the profiles/websites of their rightful owners

The art that I have on my profile now is rightfully mine and I am the sole creator. I made it using a trial of painting program called Corel Painter.

Yes, I'm ashamed that I used to have art that wasn't even mine. I did a bad thing by saying they were. Thank goodness they're in the hands of their rightful owners and my profile has my own original art that I created. I did a bad thing and I'm sorry :(

Hello there, Hutch! How are you today?

I haven't drawn in a while (I only have 2 pieces on this site, which are rather amateurish, haha) but I'm going to do my best to draw something new soon.

I admire your honesty on the subject of your plagiarism in the past. All the people I know of who have stolen submissions have been found out by moderators, and they just disappear once their artwork gets removed. This one user, DeadHead91, stole images from a DeviantArt artist's gallery and I proceeded to report her submission. After his/her stolen art was removed...they did it again! So now that user is on 2 strikes, with the third being a reason to terminate his/her account.

I must say, you are different. What you did before is now in the past, and thus you don't need to apologise: you've owned up, you've returned the artworks to their owners and you're now endeavouring to improve your artistic skill on this a site by uploading original content. You've done the right thing.

I may have heard of Corel Painter...is it free? If you want another Photoshop-like programming that's free, you can also try GIMP (type that into Google and download the software for free off their site.)

You can also get the CS2 version of Photoshop by typing 'CS2 downloads' into Google and going to Adobe's site to download it (for whatever you use, I take it you're on Windows?)
You need an Adobe account, though.

If you already know all this...I may have wasted a few lines typing it out, haha!

Take care and keep up the art! The sky's the limit, friend.

Ayo, sup homie ;)

Thanks, but the bad thing that I did was only 2 months ago so it still haunts me :(
Thank goodness I did the right thing. :) Chances are I won't get banned from NG by mods.
Dude you're art isn't amateur. I liked it because it was original, charming and cute. The drawing of the little girl was sweet and it suited my fancy. My fav one though was your other pic with that odd object that I couldn't identify. It's bizarre and downright weird but that's what I like about it. You definitely should be scouted. Your art is excellent! It may not be professional, but it's well done, deliberately thought out and far from just "amateur."

Unfortunately, Corel Painter isn't free. I was using a trial that's now expired. I don't use Windows. I use an Apple MacBook Air. The full version of Corel Painter's $500. I don't have enough to buy it.
If u wanna check it out, just download the 26 day trial from their website.

Keep on drawing more pics!

P.S.

What u said was the nicest thing I've ever heard. Thank U :)

P.P.S.

Is Adobe free? I really am considering Photoshop. Since u also recommended GIMP I might as well check that out too.

No problem, man!

The moderators have no reason to ban you if the artwork is your own. I think the rule is that if you get 3 strikes for stolen artwork (so they catch you once, you do it again, they remove it again, and so on...), then they have a reason to terminate your account. But since you're doing your own thing, it's all cool. :D

You have to pay for the newer versions of Photoshop, but the CS2 version is free to download and use. You need to make an Adobe account first. Since you have a MacBook, look out for the Mac link instead of the Windows one, of course.

GIMP is another good alternative, yes: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

I'm very glad that you like my artwork, friend. The illustration of the girl is actually of a favourite NG musician of mine named Troisnyx. I spent most of my time shading that dress in, I strived to copy every detail of the image I tracked down, haha!

Check her music out and drop her a comment if you like it. I don't really know how to describe the genre she favours, I think it's known as 'Ethereal Wave' or 'New Wave' music. Either way, I think it's very nice: http://troisnyx.newgrounds.com/

Again...keep up the art and I look forward to more from you, friend.

Thanks. I'll be sure to check out Troisnyx. Luckily 4u I kno a lot about music. New Wave is a type of pop influenced alternative music known for its dance beats, frequent use of synthesizers, and cheery pop atmosphere. Ethereal Wave is similar to New Wave but is more dark and gothic. It's influenced by the poppy sounds and techno synths of New Wave but is less poppy and more punk and goth rock like. I'm a fan of both genres.

Ethereal Wave is kind of like an Emo/Punk/Goth version of New Wave. My favorite Ethereal wave bands are Ministry (early albums), Siouxsie and the Banshees, Combichrist and The Birthday Massacre.

My fav regular New Wave bands/artists are

The Buggles
The Vapors
Thomas Dolby
Taco
Flock of Seagulls
Dead or Alive
MISSING PERSONS
The Call
Madness
Oingo Boingo
Thompson Twins
Wall of Voodoo
Ministry (Old)
Billy Nelson

Heard of any of these bands?

BTW does GIMP work on a MacBook?

Peace out, Friend

Wow, you certainly know a lot more about music genres than I do, haha! Vast knowledge of music indeed.

I think Troisnyx has done songs relating to Ethereal Wave...I got 'New Wave' wrong, I actually read from her profile on another site that she does 'New Age', which is completely different, I hear. Argh, so many genres! :P

Forgive me, but I've only heard of two of those bands that you mentioned, and only one signature track from them both: I know of Dead or Alive, of course, for their song, 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' and Oingo Boingo for 'Weird Science'. I never actually knew they fell into the New Wave category. It's interesting to learn new things about music, thanks for the info! :D

I checked to see if GIMP was available for Mac...it doesn't have a link for it on their site, but I think there are links for a Mac-compatible GIMP if you search around. I would just use Adobe Photoshop CS2 if it proves to be a hassle: like I mentioned, they have links for both Windows and Mac, and there's probably more you can do with Photoshop.

Thanks again for the response and all the best, my friend!
